North Vancouver's new Development in Lower Lonsdale
The Lower Lonsdale Development is the largest development project in the history of North Vancouver. Over the next ten years, this core region of the city will see the addition of some 3 million square feet of new development in a variety of residential and commercial properties.
Lower Lonsdale is set to feature an exciting new inventory of residential and commercial developments, as well as shops, restaurants, galleries and museums. Amenities such as the new John Braithwaite Community Centre, the Citys first multi-purpose facility offering more than 35,000 sq. ft. or social, recreation and general community use space, and public open space such as Jack Loucks Court, are making Lower Lonsdale one of the most sought-after neighbourhoods in the Greater Vancouver area in which to live and work.
While developments have thus far been concentrated in sites located in the central and western portions, the City is now in the process of determining how to proceed with other new developments following the East of Lonsdale Planning Study. The former Versatile Shipyards and Esplanade Avenue between Lonsdale and St Georges are currently under construction and will include new utilities, amenities and access to the Pier Development. This will bring additional social and economic benefits to the area, and build a sustainable community for current and future residents.
As part of the ongoing development of the Lower Lonsdale neighbourhood and marketing of City lands, the City has initiated a promotions program entitled "lower lonsdale life style".(PDF takes a few seconds to load) In addition to media kits and a websit, a 16 page magazine was created and distributed to over 200,000 homes in the Greater Vancouver area. The magazine highlights the North Shore quality of life and the services and amenities that exist and will be built in Lower Lonsdale over the next few years.
Response to this effort has been very positive as evidenced by rapid sales of condominium development and the strong values the City is receiving for its land. For further information, visit www.lonsdalelife.com.
